How much are missed calls costing your shop?

Four numbers, about 30 seconds. No email, no sign-up. Just an honest estimate you can check yourself.

Calls from people who need work done. Leave out vendors and spam.
%
Studies of home service shops say 14% to 27%1,2. Your phone log beats both.
$
$1,500 is just an example. Put in your own.
%
24% is what shops with under 5 techs booked in ServiceTitan's data3. The typical shop booked 42%.
One more number (optional)
%
78% of people in a 2025 survey said they had given up on a business over an unanswered call4. Some do call back or leave a voicemail, so we only count the ones who go elsewhere.

Fair warning. This is an estimate, not a promise. Some callers call back, some jobs you'd never have won, and if your schedule is already full, one more call isn't one more job. We round down so the number is never bigger than the math.

Want every call answered, day and night?

Orbit answers for your shop, books the job on your calendar, and texts you the details. It's built by Local Trade for local trade shops.

How we figure it: calls a week x unanswered % x share who go to another shop x your close rate x your average job, times 52 weeks, divided by 12 for a month. Rounded down.

  2. Invoca: home services companies miss 27% of inbound calls (Invoca platform data). Source
  3. ServiceTitan, call booking rates, June 2022 data from 3,000+ trade businesses: 24% for shops under 5 techs, 42% typical. Source
  4. CallRail survey of 1,000 U.S. consumers, September 2025: 78% said they had abandoned a business after an unanswered call (self-reported). Summary
These are vendor studies, not government numbers, and they measure different groups. We don't average them, and we don't use the "80% never leave a voicemail" type numbers that have no study behind them.
